Rivers guber: I can’t be intimidated –Wike

The people of Apara Kingdom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have joined other groups urging the Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, to declare his intention to contest the state’s governorship election in 2015.
This is even as Wike had told the people that he could not be intimidated by anybody in the run-up to 2015 elections.

Wike made the declaration yesterday when thousands of people from Apara Kingdom paid him a solidarity visit in his house in Port Harcourt, pledging their support for his 2015 governorship ambition in the state.
He told his supporters not to be worried about who would be the gubernatorial flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, saying at the appointed time, the name would be announced.
The minister, who also urged the people to vote for the re-election of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election, said the state would continue to be governed by PDP.
“But, one thing I can tell all of you is, go home and sleep. I am your son; nobody can intimidate me. Be rest assured that whatever you hear anybody saying, whatever conspiracy, don’t worry yourself.
“This is the game we have been involved in, because you know that we would not be shaken at all. Whatever we have started to do, we would do it. So, very soon, you will also hear from us. But, what I can tell you, go home and sleep very well. You have nothing to lose. PDP will continue to rule this state.
“We must mobilise to return President Jonathan in 2015. Do not be worried, because why I said so is this, when you vote Jonathan, it is very obvious PDP would produce governor of Rivers State. PDP is still on ground as long as Rivers State is concerned.
“If you don’t vote for Jonathan, it would be very difficult, because Jonathan’s election would come first. So, voting for Jonathan would mean that you would vote for whoever that emerges as PDP candidate in the gubernatorial primaries,” he said.
He added: “So, I would charge all of you here to go home, and the way you have taken this insult, is to keep quiet and wait for the day of election. What is important in government is not to abuse people, but tell them what you have done. Government is not by abusing people.
