Pandemonium broke out yeaterday in Ilaro in Yewa South Local
Government Area of Ogun State when people suspected to be political
thugs clashed, leaving one person dead.
An eyewitness, Biodun Sowunmi, who escaped unhurt, said the incident
occurred while Governor Ibikunle Amosun was on an assessment tour to the
local government area.
Sowunmi, a public analyst, said the gangs were fighting over
territorial supremacy, but the governor was not affected in any way
since the incident occurred outside the venue where he was addressing
the people.
The thugs were alleged to be supporters of two senatorial
aspirants from Ogun West Senatorial District on the platform of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) .
The incident reportedly left many people injured due to dangerous weapons used by the rival gangs.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi,
confirmed that one person lost his life, adding that hoodlums, who used
