Esuene, chairperson of Senate Committee on Women Affairs and Social
Development, made the pledge while making a formal declaration for the
office of the state governor in Abuja at the weekend.
She stressed that the right replacement for the current governor was
an individual with ample knowledge of the state, adding that she was the
most experienced of the 28 aspirants in her party.
She said: “Akwa Ibom State under our digital governor has witnessed a
lot on infrastructure development. It stands to his credit that he has
done a lot in this area for the people of our state. But the journey has
not ended, there are still areas that need development and it is so
because government is a continuum.
“Government is a serious affair that should be left in the hands of
people that have been tested and proven to be competent. A lot depends
on the leader as the individual who determines what happens to the led.
So, today, I present myself to you as an individual seeking the
number one office in our state after serious consideration and
consultations,” she said.
The senator urged the reinstatement of PDP Chairman of Essien Udim
Local Government Area, Friday Udo, who was suspended following an attack
during her visit to the council on October 15. She assured her
supporters of justice from the leadership of the party in the state,
even as she urged that her supporters, some of who suffered injuries
during the attack, to tread the path of peace.
