Louis van Gaal positive he will serve full contract with Manchester United

Louis van Gaal says there is no reason to believe he will not serve out his full contract at Manchester United.

Louis van Gaal believes he will be given three full years to fire Manchester United back to the top of the game, after insisting he needs time to complete his rebuilding job at Old Trafford.

David Moyes was sacked just 10 months into his six-year contract as United manager after a hugely disappointing first season, but Van Gaal appears confident that the assurances he has been given by his paymasters will be honoured.
Asked if it is right that he is being given not just time, but the most money ever granted in one transfer window to an Old Trafford manager he replied: "Of course. Otherwise I wouldn't be here. I don't have to come here, they have asked me.
"There is a trajectory and a process of three years. I have signed a three-year contract. Believe me, I shall finish that.

"We have bought a certain type of player, a lot of creative, attacking players. So it is a process for those types of players to not only look to making a goal, but also to look at the rest of the defence.
"We are improving, but I'm sorry to say it for a second time, it needs time."
Van Gaal was also asked whether he felt there was a lack of leadership in his United side, as he admitted the departure of experienced players such as Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand had affected the dressing room in inherited.
"It's difficult to say anything about that because as you know at the time I was coming to the club big leaders were leaving. Evra, Vidic and Ferdinand," he added.
"Also, leadership is a process, you are not from one day to another day a leader. It's a process and now a lot of players are in that process."
