Amaechi can’t make Rivers people hate Jonathan – Dagogo-Jack

Former chairman, Presidential Task Force, Beks Dagogo-Jack has said no matter what Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State says, he cannot make Rivers people to hate President Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement he personally signed, Dagogo-Jack said Governor Amaechi’s recent alleged outburst that the president was not his brother and that the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, wanted him to ‘share’ Rivers’ money with her, was a sign of disrespect to the first family. He said no matter what the governor said he (Amaechi) could not make the people of Rivers State to despise President Jonathan.
“As a Rivers person I find it very embarrassing that Governor Amaechi has gradually, but steadily developed the penchant to publicly address President Jonathan with so much disrespect and rudeness, that is definitely not good for our politics. The recent spate of verbal attacks by Amaechi on President Jonathan has the hallmarks of frustration and a misdirected anger.

“As many Nigerians are beginning to notice, Governor Amaechi has in two recent public outings heaped all sorts of unfounded accusations and personal insults on the president and the First Lady, and appears determined to carry on with this baseless campaign of calumny as his style of rehabilitating his dwindling public image in the Niger Delta region, as we approach next year’s elections.
“Any rational mind who listens attentively to him at each public outing these days would easily see the desperation that clearly fuels these unnecessary personal attacks on Mr. President, yet these attacks by Amaechi which have been going on for years, but gained greater momentum and frequency these past months have not diminished the credibility and popularity of Mr. President in Rivers and sister states in the region. If anything, President Jonathan image in our region remains high and undented,” he said.
