Three new members joined the prestigious Corporate Nigeria Hall of Fame as they were inducted Saturday as part of activities to mark the flag-off of the 2014 Nigeria Bankers Games (NBG).

Nigeria’s first ever Hall of Fame recipient, Vivian Ezenwoko of Fidelity Bank, a dominant personality in the NBG athletics events led the roll that also had Segun Babatunde of Sterling Bank and Ebenezer Joseph of Skye Bank.

All three who expressed delight at their appointment and induction were presented beautifully crafted Crystal Plaques and giant portraits to commemorate the occasion.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MediaVision Limited, organisers of the tournament, Fela Bank-Olemoh, described all three recipients as worthy ambassadors of Corporate Nigeria Games and urged them to continue to pursue excellence both in their professional career and in sports.

“Corporate Nigeria Games is a platform to keep our ever busy professionals healthy through friendly sports engagements and also expand the network base that is very important in career development. We will continue to enrich the tournament that is competitive and yet cordial,” declared Bank-Olemoh.

The day had commenced with a colourful march past which had all the participating banks on parade but it was again the football champions, Skye Bank that stole the show, winning the prize for the best contingent.

Skye Bank will go ahead to pip Standbic IBTC through an Ismaila Sani solitary strike on 52 minutes in a keenly fought opening game of the tournament. It was a freekick from the edge of the box which he planted beyond the goalkeeper. In the second game, Fidelity also ran away with a 1-0 win thanks to Oladimeji Oyefeso penalty on the 7th minute.

First Bank scored through Dele Oshikomaya on the 20th minute to claim all three points against Ecobank while UBA went beyond the one goal margin to beat Sterling Bank 2-0. The goals came off the boots of Emeka Iwu (11th) and Emmanuel Igbokwe.

Bank dignitaries who were present at the event include Executive Director Fidelity Bank, Ikechukwu Mbagwu, and Executive Director, Skye Bank, Ibiye Ekong. Others were some alumni of the Hall of Fame, Ambali Abiodun, David Iwuchukwu, Emeka Udegbulem, Eric Iruh, Femi Aribaloye, Mustapha Abdulrasheed, Rotimi Saka and Theo Amadi.
