Winning Miss Ambassador for Peace shocked me –Ademoluti Omoboyewa Rebecca

Last Saturday, September 27, Miss Ademoluti Omoboyewa Rebecca emerged as Miss Ambassador for Peace 2014, after a keenly contested pagaentry held at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The new queen who hails from Ifon, Ofe Local Government Area of Ondo State, beamed with smiles as she was crowned amidst fanfare and panache. In this interview with The Entertainer, an elated Rebecca opens up on her experience in camp, the secret behind her success, her beauty routine, her dreams, pet project and of course, her ideal man.
Excerpts:
How do you feel emerging winner among 34 beautiful contestants?
I feel honoured to be crowned Miss Ambassador for Peace 2014. I am very elated and my joy knows no bounds. Winning the grand prize of a brand new car alongside other mouth watering packages is like a dream come true. I thank the Project Director, Mr. Kingsley Amafibe, for this great opportunity and for fulfilling his promises. Honestly, I never believed that I could win because there were so many beautiful and intelligent contestants on the platform; I was shocked when the audience started shouting ‘Ondo’ because I never expected it though, I had always prayed for that moment. I also want to appreciate the Camp Director for bringing out the best in me.

There were 34 beautiful ladies at the pageantry, what do you think stood you out of the crowd?
It was my penchant for detail. You must have noticed that when I was answering my questions I placed a lot of emphasis on detail. I am a confident young woman and I trust my intellectual abilities and that also stand me out of the crowd because I am not just about beauty but I am also about brains. I want to thank God for His grace and blessings. It is His grace that attracts love from people into my life. I have received countless calls and congratulatory messages from family and friends. In fact, I cannot help but thank God for this great privilege, and my heart goes to everyone who made my dream a reality. And to my fellow contestants that couldn’t make it to the finals, they should believe in themselves and stay focussed in their dreams. I am convinced that someday, luck will smile on them. They should always remember to celebrate others so that they too will be celebrated. I also want  to appreciate the presence of Nollywood actor, Vincent Opurum and Ulzee Concept and everyone who made it to the pageantry. Here’s a big thank you for the love. to appreciate the presence of Nollywood
How did you get into the pageantry?
The first time I heard about the pageant was in 2012 during the first edition. However, I heard about this year’s edition through a friend in the university. I went online and checked and I felt it was cool so right there and then, I made up my mind I was going to participate. I registered and luckily, I was selected for the audition, so after my exams, I travelled to Abuja and to the glory of God, the rest is history.
Is this the first time you are getting into beauty pageantry?
No. I started pageantry last year when I contested for Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2013 but wasn’t lucky enough to win. But when the call for Miss Ambassador for Peace came I didn’t hesitate. I saw it as a well coordinated pageant designed to help young girls to showcase their talents and skills; that was actually what attracted me to the pageant. I saw it as an opportunity which will enable me impact people’s lives especially children and the less privileged.
What are your plans as Miss Ambassador for Peace 2014?
Basically, the mission of the Peace Ambassador Agency is to promote peace in Nigeria and Africa at large by giving succour to the less privileged and promoting peace among children under the platform’s Peace Educational Campaign. So my reign is going to be all about peace in Nigeria and the rest of Africa but we have to start from home. Among others, the Peace Education Campaign will encapsulate all the 36 states of the federation. Aside educating students, we will also distribute educational materials to support their education. We are also planning a Peace Summit which will kick-off soon. The objective is to educate our youths on the importance of having peaceful elections in 2015. And the reason why we are targeting youths is because they are the easy tools used for violence during elections. We will be educating them on why they should stay away from violence so that we all could enjoy peaceful co-existence. We will also be working as a team to execute other notable humanitarian works across Nigeria.
How do you hope to achieve all this?
I want to use this opportunity to state that the Project Director, Peace Ambassador Agency, Mr. Kingsley Amafibe, has distinguished himself since the inception of this platform as a reliable and true Nigerian with a heart for the less privileged and love for education. According to the testimonies of the past Queens, the agency’s achievements have attracted the support of distinguished Nigerians. As an indigene of Ifon, Ofe Local Government Area of Ondo State, I believe my State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, will support me in my drive to achieve my humanitarian goals as Queen because His Excellency is a lover of tourism and a man with a gold heart. We are planning to go on a courtesy visit soon to solicit for his support.
As an undergraduate, how do you hope to strike a balance between your new office as Queen and your academics
I believe that with the support of my agency I will be able to strike a balance between my studies and duties. Besides it’s all about time management though, I know it could be quite challenging; I am ready to give my all.
How do you intend working with the Zonal Queens?
We had a fabulous relationship in camp and that makes it easier for us to enjoy cordial working relationships. We have five Zonal Queens, Miss Ambassador for Peace Niger Delta, Udumoh Winifred, Miss Ambassador for Peace South East, Perpetual Ufondu, Miss Ambassador for Peace South West, Joseph Serena. Miss Ambassador for Peace Tourism, Cynthia Igwe, Miss Ambassador for Peace North Central, Vivian Adzume Habila, and Ebo Gabriella, Face of Peace Ambassador Agency. The Zonal Queens will also carry out projects in their respective zones.
What would you want your reign to be remembered for?
I want to make an impact and leave my foot prints in the sands of time. I want to put smiles on the faces of the downtrodden and the less privileged children. In fact, I want to leave a legacy of peace for the unborn generation; that is my greatest desire.
What was your parents” reaction when you told them about your decision to go into pageantry?
I must gladly confess that I am blessed to be born into the family of Rear Admiral Williams. Ademoluti. My mother is an Engineer. My parents” support for education and hard work is the reason why we have many professionals in our family. We are seven girls in the family and we have two doctors, two accountants and myself, an undergraduate. I must commend my parents for giving their full support to my dream. In fact, it is the love they have shown me that has led to my winning this crown. I want to say a big thank you to my parents and siblings, I love you all!
What was growing up like?
I was born and bred in Lagos. It was fun growing up in a Christian and disciplined home. I grew up at Navy Barracks, Lagos. I attended Nigeria Navy Primary School, Ojo. Thereafter, I proceeded to the Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Ojo. In school, we were trained to be neat and disciplined and that is the reason I am a reserved person today. Like my secondary school motto, Upward Together. I was trained to work with people. When a team member makes a mistake, everyone on the team is punished for the offence. I was separated from the outside world while growing up and it actually took me time learning to socialise but today, I am quite outgoing and ready to take on life’s challenges and attain success.
You are such a beautiful woman. What is the secret behind your great looks?
I eat a lot of fruits and I also watch what I eat and I stay away from fatty foods. I also have my beauty routine. I don’t wear makeup to bed; I always wipe my face and take my bath and use normal body moisturisers. And most importantly, I don’t wear excessive foundation on my face.
What about your boyfriend, how did he react to your success?
That is my personal life and I wouldn’t want to talk about it. However, all my time is now devoted to my education and my new appointment as Miss Ambassador for Peace.
You are a beautiful lady, how do you intend to handle your male admirers as a beauty queen?
I hope to maintain the good morals my background has inculcated in me throughout my reign without losing focus and allowing fame to take over my sense of reasoning. Of course, a lot of men will be interested in having a relationship with me as a beauty queen but I will handle it to the best of my knowledge and remain the responsible lady my parents reared me to become.
Could you describe your ideal man?
My ideal man should be authoritative in nature so that he would cut short my excesses. And he should be a perfect gentle, humble and God fearing man. He should be a man who respects his women
